It is a well known fact that the oceans are not an inexhaustible source of fish, and that certain parts of worlds fisheries are subject to overfishing and decline in biomass. The Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations today consider that 87% of the world’s fish stocks are either overexploited or fully exploited (SOFIA report, 2012).
Following the idea of full utilization of our resources and all parts of a harvested fish, Ecolomega® fish oil are made using only rest-products of human fish fillet production from sustainable, ethically correct and environmentally friendly sources, living up to the strictest standards in Europe.
The fish (trout) used for production of Ecolomega® fish oil is from fresh inland waters in Denmark, and certified according to the requirements and standards on social responsibility, sustainability and natural resources in all processes.
The Ecolomega® brand secures a fully transparent, sustainable and traceable fish oil, from fish roe to finished product.
The ability to use rest-products of an already certified sustainable fish production, as well as the fact that all resources (local Danish inland aqua culture farms and factory) are located with in a range of 50 km, secures an environmental carbon foot print of about one third of f.ex. wild caught cod, calculated by the Global Warming Potential factor.
